FUSE Eclipse Tools FAQ

We're in the process of constructing a FAQ for our FUSE Eclipse Tools. We take information from conversations on the tools forum and from the tools JIRA and distil it into snappy questions. Please feel free to contribute to this FAQ!

What's up with the EIP diagram wizard? I get java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/ibm/icu/text/Bidi

This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, you might need to update the com.ibm.icu bundle in your Eclipse plugins directory. We've seen this happen with version 3.6.1 of the plugin, and you can download version 3.8.1 from the Eclipse Orbit Project.

Why are you using Eclipse 3.3.2?

We will be moving to 3.4.1 just as soon as we can. It was my decision to go with 3.3.2 for the FUSE Integration Designer Preview to help with stability of the platform, so that problems reported could be our fault rather than the fault of one of the many giants upon whose shoulders we build. The .0 of a major release always has a few issues.

Can I install both the JBI Tools and the Integration Designer at the same time?

No, I'm afraid there's a plugin versioning clash that causes problems when you do this. For the moment, you should put these into separate Eclipse instances. See this thread for more details of what the issue is, and how to resolve it if you do install the two together. We're working on updating the JBI tools to remove this problem.
